For you adventurous couples, do we have something spectacular for you especially if you like water slides. This is a way different type of water slide than what your thinking of! How would you feel riding down a natural rock slide? This famous attraction is in Arizona’s State Park. Slide Rock State Park was actually an apple farm in the early 1900’s. The slides back in the day, were used for watering the trees, it was quit a new and innovative irrigation system for its time.

Now, visitors may slide down the slide or wade in the swimming area or lay out in the sun along creek. The park is located in Oak Creek Canyon, which is north of Sedona and south of Flagstaff. Due to the popularity of the park, parking is limited and if the spaces fill up, they will only allow another car in once one leaves. Make sure you get there early to ensure your spot!
With every state park comes rules, but the rules are very normal and much like other state parks.
- No pets or glass containers in the swim area.
- Pets must be kept on a leash & attended to at all times.
- Charcoal fires are permitted in designated grills only. No wood fires allowed in grills. Propane grills and stoves are allowed. Smoking allowed in vehicles only.
- Littering is unlawful.
- Damaging or removing rocks, vegetation, or public property is prohibited.
- This area contains many natural hazards. Please enjoy with caution. Rocks and creek beds are slippery when wet or icy.
There are different costs to get into the park as well, depending on the time of year or vehicle you are in.
- Admission for summer season is $20.00 per vehicle and $10.00 per vehicle rest of year.
- Fees for Motorcycles are $10.00 summer season; $5.00 rest of year.
- Group or commercial vehicles fees are $20.00 up to 4 adults plus $3.00 per adult after the first four. An adult is defined as someone fourteen years or older.
Not only is there swimming and laying in the sun, there are also hiking trails, picnic areas, a gift shop, fishing and wildlife viewing. AND, AND, the state park also allows weddings! They also have a working apple ranch. The harvest is celebrated with the Slide Rock Apple Fest. At the fest, you can pick your own apples, shop at vendors booths, games for the kids and entertainment.
